LADIESFUND Awards #LFA15

I joined LADIESFUND a few years back and it has been a wonderful a ride. LADIESFUND is a platform that recognizes women for their achievements and gives them opportunities to progress. This year LADIESFUND held its 7th Awards for Women of Pakistan, 2015 on 7th March, 2015. The Awards were held at Governor House, Karachi on a day with perfect weather to be seated in the garden and perfect light (for selfies!).

Governor House looked beautiful dressed in pink and white, from the kiosks to the pink carpet to the pink clad tables and white chairs, everything screamed "LADIESFUND".

The event consisted of the who's who of Pakistan who came out on a Saturday to laud the women of substance being awarded. The pioneer award was won by Namira Salim, the courage award winner was Najma Sadeque. Several scholarships were awarded to deserving girls to groom their future and to give them an opportunity to prosper. The people's choice awards 2015 had three categories; Trailblazer, Momentum and Woman of the year and were won by Momina Duraid, Shafaq Habib and Hina Dilpazeer respectively.

The highlight of the event was the dessert bar, coordinated by the amazing Varah Musavvir of Firefly, which was a burst of color and was loaded with sweetness! People had plates full of dessert as opposed to food because it didn't just look good but actually tasted delicious.

The event was terrific and the entire team with the leadership of the president of Dawood Global Foundation, Tara Uzra Dawood, did a wonderful job. Such events should be held to appreciate women and to commemorate those who have laid down their lives for the betterment of Pakistan. As part of the team, I am grateful and honored that Dr. Ishrat ul Ibad so graciously opened the gates of Governor House to let us host the event.

Happy Women's Day y'all!
